We Buy and Sell Pre-Owned Gear & Apparel

We have lots of pre-owned outdoor items looking for a new home! Come to the store and see what we've got.

Do you want to give your gear a new home? Here’s how it works.

Bring your item(s) to our Phoenix store Tuesdays-Fridays 11am to 4pm with your completed consignment inventory form and contract (see the below links).  We will go through your items and review your form before you leave. Items not accepted will be returned to you before you leave the store. We only take items that are hiking, camping and backpacking related or adjacent to those activities.  Please no snow sports, hunting, water sports, cycling, racquet sports, fitness equipment, etc.

Have your consignment form ready before coming in.  A Driver’s License or other government issued ID is required on your initial visit for us to complete a consignment agreement.  A copy of your ID will be kept on file with JRI. A signed Consignment Contract – see the link below – is also required on your initial visit and then on an annual basis.

When we sell an item, you get 50% of the sales price and we keep 50%.  You can opt for store credit with a 55/45 split.

Pricing

We recommend starting your price at 50% of the original retail price and go up or down in price depending on quality, year, etc.
JRI can offer assistance with pricing, but please price your own.

Please limit the number of consigned products to no more than 50 items per month.

Some Consignment Tips

  1. If you wouldn’t buy it, please don’t bring it in. Make sure your items are of good quality, in working condition, freshly washed, free of holes, damage, stains, pet hair and funky smells.
  2. Is your gear and clothing modern and in style? JRI will not take items more than 5 years old (there are exceptions for some “vintage” items).
  3. Currently, JRI will not take safety equipment items, specifically rock climbing equipment other than crash pads, climbing shoes and helmets.
  4. JRI will not take items that have a short product life or that can be used in germ warfare – hydration bladders, water filters, water bottles, utensils, underwear and other such items will be refused.
  5. Consign with the season! Bring in your summer items in the early Spring and winter gear in the early Fall.
  6. We are most likley to accept specialty outdoor brands that we already sell or specialty brands of equivalent quality. We will not accept low end brands such as Coleman, Hi-Tec, High Sierra and similar.  If it was purchased at stores like Walmart, it will not have enough resale value. And even if your item(s) are a top brand in great condition, we may still refuse said items.  We want to take the items we know will sell and sell fast so you can get paid. If you are unsure before heading over, send us an email with the product information and a picture and we will get back to you – bunnilope@justroughinit.com.
