Is Just Roughin' It Adventure Co. fully permitted, certified and
insured?
YES!!!

What's included in the price of a Just Roughin' It trip?
Day and multiday trips include round trip transportation from Phoenix, Sedona, Flagstaff, Williams or
Tusayan, all necessary gear (a day pack for day trips and a backpack, tent (double occupancy), cooking
stove, sleeping bag, and pad for multiday trips), certified guide, and trail food.  Tips for your awesome guides
are NOT included in the price.

How much should I tip my guide?
Tips are generally up to 10-15% of the price of your trip.  Tip your guide what you believe to be appropriate
and what you can afford.

Where do Just Roughin' It trips originate?
We can pick you up from your hotel or a predetermined location in Phoenix, Sedona, Flagstaff, Williams,
Tusayan (outside Grand Canyon National Park), or Las Vegas depending on the final destination.  Please see
individual trip details for more information.

Does the guide prepare food during my trip?
Yes!

What do I need to bring on a Just Roughin' It trip?
Just Roughin' It provides all the necessary equipment.  You just need to bring personal items and
appropriate footwear.  We have two different check lists, one for
Fall, Winter and Spring and the other for
Summer.  Refer to both for any early Fall or late Spring trips as temperatures fluctuate greatly.

What if I can provide my own gear, food and transportation and only
need someone to guide me on the trail?
Just Roughin' It offers a guide only option for day and multiday trips.  If you want transportation and a guide,
please
contact us.

How much weight will I be carrying for a multiday backpack trip?
Depending on the number of days you decide to travel, expect to carry 25-35 lbs or 25% of your body weight -
which ever is less.  We will help you or give you tips on how to pack light and efficiently.

Do you have a difficulty rating scale for your trips?
Our scale ranges from a level one hike - fewer miles and little elevation gain, to a level five (strenuous) - see
our Grand Canyon Rim to Rim trips.  Havasupai can be made as an easier trip with the pack horse option.
Click here for a look at our hiking scale.

What trip do you recommend for a first time or novice backpacker?
We recommend the Grand Canyon- Havasupai trip for beginner packers.  There is less elevation change than
other parts of the Grand Canyon and if you pack in and decide it is not for you, we can arrange to have a
pack horse carry your gear out of the canyon for an additional charge.  Plus, the destination is mind blowing.
We also recommend an overnight in the
Superstition Mountains.  Here we can find a trail with less elevation
gain and shorter in distance.  And again, great views and scenery!

Can I get a pack horse or mule to carry my gear or myself?
Yes, but only at Havasupai for an additional charge.   We can arrange for you to have your gear or yourself
carried round trip.  You can only bring what you would normally carry on your back.

How far in advance should I plan my trip?
Because many areas of the state require permits that are limited in number, please try to plan at least 5
months in advance for trips anywhere in the Grand Canyon -  Havasupai is the exception where less time is
necessary.  We can accept as little as 1-2 weeks to other places in the state.  However, we will always try to
accommodate last minute requests.

Does Just Roughin' It offer discounts?
Yes, we offer up to a 10% discount on any of our trips (except guide only) for your group of 5 or more people.

Do you have a minimum number of people required for a trip?
Only two people need to be signed up for a trip.  If you are a single hiker and would like to sign up, check out
'Join a Trip.'  Here we post trips that are scheduled and have some spaces left.  Just find a trip that works for
you and contact us to be added on.

How old do you have to be to go on one of your trips?
Anyone from 12 years to 70 can go as long as the trip requested meets their physical ability.  Contact us and
we can plan a trip for your family with younger children.  There is a hike out there for everyone!

Does Just Roughin' It offer family or women's only trips?
Yes.  Families with children 12 or older can just plan a trip at any time.  If you have children under 12, please
contact us and let us know their age(s) and hiking ability.  We will create a great hiking experience for your
family!  If you want your trip to be women's only with a female guide select 'Women's Only' on the
Request
Information page and we will try to accommodate you.

Does Just Roughin' It offer kayaking, white water rafting, mountain
biking, hot air balloon, helicopter, basket weaving, or shopping tours?
No.  We are a hiking and backpacking guide company.  However, many of our destinations require a
4-wheel drive vehicle to access the trail head, so you may get a built in off-road adventure with your
hiking/backpacking trip.

What is your payment and cancellation policy?
The price for each trip can be found on the trip description pages.  A non-refundable deposit of $250 or 50%
of the trip price, which ever is less,  is due upon sign up.  If it is less than 30 days before trip departure, the
full amount of the trip is due. Balance in full is due 30 days before trip departure.

You may transfer to another trip at 30 days or more before the scheduled trip departure date with a $60
administration fee. No refunds will be issued after 30 days before your departure date.  Please
contact us for
information on Trip Insurance.

Pricing for all our trips does not include guide gratuity.  Our guides are awesome - they deserve a little extra
$!  Tips are usually 10-15% of the total trip price, but not mandatory.

Do you cancel trips due to weather?
No; however, we do reserve the right to change the itinerary to avoid any dangerous weather conditions and
to make your trip enjoyable.

Can I give a Just Roughin' It trip as a gift?
Yes!!  A hiking and backpacking trip is a great idea for the adventurous family member or friend!  Go to the
'Plan Your trip' page and select the 'gift' option.  Dates are not necessary for this option.  The recipient can
decide that later!
